Since I am re-doing the Archimedes class test-bed. When I get the ship completely finished, textured, painted, etc. I am going to post here and ask for advice in getting it ready for possible Joat inclusion. Since this is a test-bed and not a regulation Starship as such.....Would this not be more suited for possible placement in equipment categories rather than starships per se?

technically, it is still a ship. However, you do have a point. But, cnsidering your developping talents and skills, I would wait for some years, redo it a couple of times, ad details, extra equipment, and so on. For example, I refer to the Remington class of kevin, a member of our forums. He has put an incredible lot of work into his ship and now, he made it from a kitbasher to here.  I would say: go for it. You can do it.

Asking for advice on a ship is an A&D thing; you should post a design in here when it's 99% done. And yes, it's considered a ship ;)

I second that. You may want to reopen the discussion in A&D or repost everything (if the thread is very old).

With the completion of the DaVinci Class testbed in the A&D threads.....Could you all look it over and let me know what needs to happen for me to make this ready for Joat submission?

It is still a bit basic, but I think it qualifies for the JoAT. Just pick the most interesting views and attach them to the JoAT form. If this isn't enough, you can send more by e-mail.

;D ;D ;D Ok Bernd, I'll do that and submit.

However, before I do, You mention a bit basic.....Is this in reference to quailty of artwork, the program used, or just what? I want this to be a perfect a submission as possible so if there is the tiniest detail that needs tweaking......I'll do it.

Ok......More detailing......Perhaps a second set of crew cabins, a little more armor hull test plating, etc.......things like that?

Ok.....I have done some editing, and I am happy with the final images. I'll have a total of twenty-two images for this submission.

Some of them are of the entire ship and some are closeups of individual components.

What is the best way to submit all 22 images?

The best way if you pre-select some images for the JoAT, at most 8.

You can send the rest by e-mail. Just reply to the message you receive automatically.

I have some questions about filling out the form. I'm not sure where to put certain items.

1) There is only 5 permanent crew members assigned, yet the ship can accommodate up to 450 technicians.....where would I enter this information?

2) In what section of the form would I put the details of the various ship systems?
3) If an entry field....like cruise warp speed for instance.....is not applicable.....Do I leave the field blank? The ship is not capable of warp speed travel unless a warp core and nacelles are installed.

I think that's all the questions I had.

1) Just write "5 permanent crew members + 450 technicians"
2) If you have further details on the propulsion system, computer system, etc. or something like a deck structure, put it into the description field.
3) You can leave it blank. When you press "evaluate" the missing required fields are indicated as follows:

Please enter something for "name".
Please correct entry for "email".
Please enter something for "class".
Please enter something for "ship_type".
Please enter something for "comm_date".
Please enter something for "length".
Please enter something for "description".

Just out of curiosity....any kind of a time frame on when the testbed ship might appear on the Joat site?

It hasn't been added Rick; I'm ashamed that I didn't gave feedback on this update.

Your designs have improved much over the time but there is still one thing that you just can't seem to do: render the image. You have seen that Kerkythea is out there, and the program is just as easy to use as SketchUp is, and to be honest I'm surprised you haven't used it yet. Download both Kerkythea and the plugin for SU and resubmit the design. To be honest... I'd prefer if you did that for the Casino too...
