New Haven Chronicles

Here's the gist:

In the Mid-twenty-first century, the Pax Tecum Corporation decided to invest in humanities future among the stars.  While the rest of Earth became bogged down with growing economical, ecological, and environmental problems, the Pax were able to gain a firm foothold on Luna and Mars.  In a little over a century, the Pax became the prominent supplier of space technologies, firmly establishing its dominance among the stars.

When earth finally got it's act together and followed the Pax into space, under the jurisdiction of the New United Nations, the Pax were ready to come home.  By this time however, the Pax were dieing  of a degenerate condition caused by a lack of sunlight and long term exposure to recycled oxygen.  Requiring regular treatments, it was only a matter of time before the citizens of the Pax Corporation would die for their cause.  Their only choice was to return to Earth until a long term solution could be found.

With the UN pushing for more and more sanctions against the Pax, particularly in the number of food shipments, it was all the Pax could do to hold their own.  They had no choice but to force the issue of their return.

On July seventh, the Pax struck the Luna shipyards on the Dark side of the moon, obliterating the dry docks and crippling the fledgling UN fleet.

The UN quickly found it had a war on its hands that it was ill prepared to fight.  They scrambled to muster a standing fleet and Marine ground force.

The Pax on the other hand had spent the better part of a century, perfecting their space based technologies, both scientific and combat.  What they lacked in numbers, they made up for in experience and technological superiority, a fact they made sure the UN was aware of at every opportunity.

Proceeding from their bases on Mars, the Pax quickly retook the Moon and established a decisive blockade around earth; cutting off the crucial fuel supplies needed to power all Fusion powered vessels.  Without regular shipments, the UN was forced to tap it's fuel reserves on Earth and the war began to ground to a standstill as the Pax seemed willing to simply wait for the UN's fuel supply to run out.

Now, with mere days before the last of the UN's fuel reserves are expended, the end of the war is finally in sight.  But the fighting is far from over.

Your Chance to Join the Team

We still have several positions open, mainly in the art department.

We're looking for experienced artists that can work with 3ds Max and/or After Effects for creating our unique look in a universe of our on creating.

We're also looking for experienced graphic artists that can create things like ship specific mission patches and advertising art (banners, full page graphics, avatars).

We also have a position open for a writer, most likely part time.

You can find out more about any of these open positions by sending me an email (in my profile) or sending me a PM.  It should be noted however that, aside from concept artists, which in it's nature is rough and unrefined, we're looking for people who can create professional looking work that will represent this project across the web.  So of course, we'll expect examples of your work to determine if you're the talent we're looking for.

New Haven - Development Blog

As you'll notice, we've once again gone through a name change, though that bit of news is perhaps eclipsed by the return of the project itself.  That's right, the Tico-Project, better known as New Haven; is back to bring you the story of the Colonial War from the perspective of those who saw it fist hand, the soldiers on the Colony of New Haven.

So, really not much has changed yet, put we'll be getting some things going here soon.

New Haven

We've had a few updates in the past week, including a call for question to help us build a FAQ.  We already have several, covering a variety of topics.  So take a look, and maybe you'll think of something we missed.

In other news, we've also replaced many of the broken that popped up after a little reshuffling in the photobucket.  We haven't been able to get around to fixing them all in this topic, but most of them should be back up on the blog.

New Haven: Project Blog

Update, now with 20 percent more video.

I've started a video blog for the project.  It's not much yet, because I'm still trying to figure out a few of the technical problems and getting used to be in front of the camera.  So hopefully the next installment will have more info.

If you watch the video though, do me a favor and leave a message please.  We're looking for all the feedback we can get.

Sometimes, you face an enemy that bullets and grenades just won't take down.  That's when you need a sat-phone to call in some Rapiers to bring the rain...

One of the big concepts weíre trying to pull off in this series, is the idea that all our fighter combat is aimed towards a ground support role.  So key to that strategy, is the ability for ground troops to contact Combat Flight Directors, stationed aboard various carriers in orbit, such as the HMS Illustrious in orbit.  The CFDís then direct in region assets, primarily the Rapier FighterĖan Unmanned Combat Aerospace Vehicle-U.C.A.V. (thatís right, our fighters are unmanned drones controlled by pilots operating aboard the carrier) to bring an overwhelming volume of fire to a target designated by UN forces on the ground.

News Update:

Quote

I have several bits of news today.

The first episode of the story is titled Orbital Decay, and will serve as a general introduction to the universe, story, and characters.  It will be released before the end of the summer.

Weíre planning a series of vignettes that will be released before the first episode.  The first vignette, ĎAARí will be released shortly, like this week shortly.

Hopefully, the other vignettes will follow on a weekly basis.  Iím pretty much writing this on my own though, and itís not my main project at the moment so some delays may occur.

No new art yet, though Iíll see what I can do about that this weekend and try to have something for you at the beginning of next week.

As you can probably, tell, Iím kicking things into high gear now and it wonít be long before the series is underway.

I hope to see you there.
