This one's what I've got now. On a related note, if anyone's seen this file around, kindly let me know. I'm thinking of switching backgrounds, but don't want to lose this one. I didn't save it when I initially set it as my desktop.

Also this one, if you want her looking in a different direction.

I use the desktop slideshow feature with Windows 7, so my background changes ever 60 seconds.  I set up a folder with about 750 mb of images, and continually add to it whenever I see something that catches my eye.

Oh wow... That's pretty...

This is the one I've been using for a while now.  (SGU's Destiny between galaxies)

I used to use the desktop slide show feature for a couple months after I got my new laptop.

I tried the desktop slideshow on my oldish desktop. Found it a bit to distracting to be honest. Loving the Destiny mind

That in reference to mine? lol.... and yea its really nice having three monitors sometimes... but its a bitch to find decent desktops images for it.

Juvat, its cool to see someone else using a non standard windows layout, by that I mean the windows toolbar along the bottom.

Greg, holy crap you got a crapload of icons on your desktop....

Agreed, +5 cool points for Visby stealth badassedaciousness.

OS X likes to constantly reset my background to Leopard's purple let-the-light-of-Steve-Jobs-shine-upon-you space background when I connect to my TV, but otherwise I typically use my own seasonal photography, particularly something simple/clean.

I've never bothered paring my Dock down too much, but I'm generally very militant about minimizing icons.  Unlike, say...Greg.

Thanks for the link.  It will give me a good break from all the TV show screencaps I normally use.

I tried the desktop slideshow on my oldish desktop. Found it a bit to distracting to be honest. Loving the Destiny mind

I got my Destiny desktop image from Gateworld.  They have a crapload of screencaps from every episode.

I also recommend this site.  They have screencaps from a bunch of different shows, hasn't been updated in a while though.

Hey Shik, how did you get the weather to appear in the top menu bar on your Mac? I saw it on someone elses but had no clue how to get it on mine. As for the background on my Mac I just use one of the standard "rock" ones that come with SL.

It's not the weather. It's the CPU temperature & fan speed, from SMCfancontrol.

I have, actually, especially in the summer months. I still freeze a lot, although I think I just need new RAM which i can't afford. But the fan rates help some.

I need instant access to porn at all times, goddamnit!

To be honest, I actually cleared up my desktop a little for taking the screencap. Usually it has a bunch of images/videos/music/folders/files on it waiting to get sorted. The permanent icons tend to be game shortcuts and a few of the more regularly used programs.

And while that's over 50 icons in the image, it's still only taking up about a fifth of the desktop. It's very rare that I'll use more than a third of the desktop before I get annoyed and clear it up.

I like having as few icons as possible sitting on my desktop, in my opinion shortcuts should be on the desktop in order to speed up accessing commonly used programs, folders, etc. If you have a bunch of stuff on your desktop then it takes longer to find things, hence canceling out the advantage of having them on your desktop. I find that I could cut back even more by using the new toolbar in windows in a way similar to the dock in OSX, pinning commonly used programs to the toolbar instead of having them on my desktop.
