I've been a bit fuzzy on how to say that. (It wouldn't be the only word in Chinese that I have trouble with.) So this was helpful.

A thought occurred to me: what if the first half-season or so is done flashback style? Like, Saru & Burnham are on Discovery, but current events cause lots of flashbacks to relevant ones on Shenzhou?

I could see that being the case.

I've since heard that it has to do with a football game on earlier in the day. At least for the pilot, on CBS.

Wouldn't be the first time sports preempted Star Trek.  I think it might be for a pilot episode, but whatever.

Space doesn't air sports of any kind, it should be safe here in Canada.

A shot of Jason Isaacs as the Discovery's captain. From what little we see of the bridge it looks more in line with a TOS bridge than a Kelvin Timeline bridge.  Perhaps this is the transitioning point between the two styles (after all the Kelvin herself is supposed to exist in both timelines).

It's hard to even see what little of of the bridge is shown.

Though I do have to say I do love those uniforms, even though the collar is very weird.

Yeah what is visible does sort of imply the 2260's upgrades that the Enterprise will eventually get.

An infographic and article about the uniforms and a look at the transporter room and new phaser design.  They also appear to have some sort of body armor on and a pouch/holster for a tricorder (maybe).

... Those uniforms are more complicated than I might have expected. I thin they give the late 2270's - 2340's uniform a run for its money.

That transporter room is ... odd. But then so is the Shenzhou with her bridge on the bottom.

Huh, you're right. Those panels on the wall do look like that back piece. It's probably just a weird accident.

I really don't like those weird black panels, they look like car mats, and a few of them are clearly about to fall off the wall.

I wouldn't be surprised if this is intentional.

Frakes directing at least one episode makes me happy. The majority of his episodes were pretty good. The ones that weren't can't really be pinned on him, there's only so much you can do with a weak script.

Frakes directing an episode works for me.
“The boat dipped and swayed and sometimes took on water, but it did not sink; the two brothers had waterproofed it well. I do not know where it finally fetched up, if it ever did; perhaps it reached the sea and sails there forever, like a magic boat in a fairytale. All I know is that it was still afloat and still running on the breast of the flood when it passed the incorporated town limits of Derry, Maine, and there it passes out of this tale forever.” ― Stephen King, It"

A few things.
A closer look at the 'new' phasers.  Basically a hybrid of the TOS Type II phaser and the ones used in "The Cage".
A closer look at the 'new' comunicators.  Basically the TOS communicators with small digital display.
And some posters shown at Comic Con that have an updated design for the Discovery.

I have mixed feelings about the cutouts.  One the one hand they are interesting aesthetically, but on the other they make no sense from an engineering and practicality standpoint.  Overall though the Discovery still has something of a Starfleet-Klingon collaboration vibe to it.

Also here's a closer look at the "new" phaser rifles.  Basically its one of the MACO rifles with the three nozzled barrel from the "new" pistol.

And here's some images and things.  The statement that these are "ancient Klingons" is interesting.

I saw something about the Klingons on Trekcore yesterday and they seemed to be of the understanding that it is different houses more than anything. Weak, but I'm sure we'll get more detail later.
