Mystery possibly solved for the Chekov's "Coffin Pod"
« on: December 06, 2016, 09:41:30 AM »
There isn't any confirmation from Mike Okuda or Ed Miarecki yet, but one of the members of the Starship Modeler community, who goes by the name Valdore, believes he has found the mystery part that went on top of the USS Chekhov, Springfield class starship: It's the long canopy from the Tomy 'Tomix "Treadmaster" toys, seen in this link: http://www.collectiondx.com/toy_review/1987/treadmaster The part in question is visible in several pictures on that site, and one or two of them show the part in great enough detail to say that it is the most likely candidate for the large "coffin pod" on top of the ship. It is the right size and shape, and has all the right details to be this pod, including the rounded, hollow square lug, the panel lines, and the little snap hinge on the front of the pod.

Not the biggest discovery, but certainly enough to warrant attention, I think.  :)
