Coronado Type/ Rockwell class
« on: January 27, 2017, 09:50:44 AM »
Something I submitted to the JoAT a few months ago, that I decided to work on some more.
Specifications
Length: 310 m
Width: 150 m
Height: 53.4 m
Decks: 10
Deck height: 3.5 m
Armament: 8 double emitter phaser banks, 4 photon torpedo launchers.
Crew Complement: 600
Auxilliary craft: 6 Concord Type shuttle pods
Max impulse: .25c
Max warp: 7

The Rockwell class began development as replacement for the NX class as early as 2156 by United Earth, but would be delayed by the Romulan war until 2177, at which point the United Federation of Planets had already been formed. The NX class had begun to show signs of aging, becoming increasingly more difficult to maintain with each refit. So it was decided by starfleet to create an entirely new design.
The Rockwell class featured an improved warp drive and impulse engine and introduced directed shielding. The new warp drive included multiple m-am reaction chambers
The class featured directed shielding. A precursor to modern shield technologies, these primitive shields involved the deployment of force fields to defend against what polarized plating could not, lasting a maximum five minutes before an automatic cool-down period. As it's name suggests, directed shielding did not provide full coverage but only in area where it was needed most. The Rockwell class also featured landing gear, and was equipped for atmospheric entry.
The keel of the USS Rockwell (NX-200) was laid in 2185 and was completed in under 10 months. In the next 50 years, over 300 vessels of this class would be released becoming a staple of Starfleet.
The USS Coranado was launched in 2187

I tried to do a deck by deck interior but stopped. I completed half a deck before my computer almost conflagerated.

So, do you remember me
In those moments just before you sleep?
I know you remember me
Swear to me the memory isn't seen
Promise me
That it doesn't make your heart beat
Doesn't make your heart beat

Great work!  I have a minor nitpick regarding having only a single impulse engine (no redundancy), but other than that I love it.

I'm going to give you an A+ for effort on that.  Every model I do with a lot of components really starts to bog down (takes several seconds to load all the components or save).

Heading for the Hundburg

4.12.2187
The USS Coronado (NCC-0210) is set to land in a western part of Hundburg, the massive capital city of Barkol, after an ancient temple in Won City is obliterated, and one of the main suspects in the investigation is Heron Ko-Ree, the brother of Captain Ko-Ree

I decided to restart working on the interior from scratch. I'm almost done laying down the corridors.

I began work on main engineering. Finished the main reactors, next comes the support structures and other systems.

I still haven't finished many of corridors for the engineering hull.

This is all I had time for in the past week or so. At this rate the interior will be done by the time I graduate college. ::)

It's 1.25 meters (49 ish inches) at it's narrowist point and ~2.17 meters at the widest That may or may not be a problem, considering that the bare mininmum hallway width for most people (according to google at least) is 42-44 inches.
Awesome work though.  8)
Thanks :)

I am revisiting the USS Coronado Model. Some of the things I'm working on are adding more details such as the cargo bay doors, more detailed phaser turrets, adding airlocks to the saucer, improving the nacelle pylons and optimizing the nacelle textures for export into other programs besides sketchup such a blender and whatever. So far I redid the deflector dish and made a more detailed housing. As for the new pylons, I don't know, they look kind of too basic right now. I still have the old pylons if I don't like the way this goes.

I spelled launcher wrong ::). The phaser turrets almost done, along with the new RCS thrusters. The Pylons are complete as well.
