Hey all! I'm not really a new member, but I have been away for quite a while. I left over some issues that I had (mostly in my own head ::) ) but I hope I'll be welcomed back with open arms rather than "lock arms on that vessel"...!

BTW, Bernd, do you ever clean out the old members ( :P )? After at least three years of being gone, I was more than a little surprised to find myself still able to log in...

That said, I love what ya'll have done with the place. This new forum look is snazzy!

EDIT: I think I'd better change my signature. That one is too dusty for words.
:p

Welcome back.  We do purge some of the membership from time to time, but it's usually only people who sign up and then never post after several months.  Members who have a high post count but haven't been around for some time, are generally left alone in the case they return someday....usually.

Sometimes I get bored and just go through and delete members at random though.

I think part of the reason its been so dead around here is that there isn't much in the way of sci-fi TV on.  Caprica and SGU got canceled, there's not much sci-fi wise on the horizon (Terra Nova counts as sci-fi I guess but, I doubt it will last very long), there's still a year until the next Trek movie (at least, assuming it doesn't get delayed).

Not really a new member, but after several false starts, gone through several chapters of re-building a torn life, finally getting the chance to begin anew....thought a re-introduction would be in order.

My actual name is Rick btw. The capitalized lettters after my name AIFD stand for achievement of the pinnacle in my professional life. Earning membership in the AMERICAN INSTITUTE OF FLORAL DESIGNERS.

I am an avid Sci-Fi and Trek fan. I enjoy designing starships, admittedly have very few completely finished ships out there on the web, but you can find a few. Most of you have known of me and seen a progression and improvement of my skills. I hope to be able to continue to improve.

Most of the designing I have done is along the lines of a 'What if ..... this or that happened" rather than recreating an established design. Most anything can serve as inspiration.....from a modern day custom chopper motorcycle, to an interesting shape of another ship, or even a genre.

I am going to be beginning a new Design thread. Hopefully a little better organized than the last ones have been. So, look for a new Ship Depository and I hope to be around designing in the SCN for a long time to come.

And finally, Bernd and Borgman....Lookout, one of these days, the casino will be complete and then you have to figure out a way to put it in the JOAT. How you are going to explain it is going to be a challenge as I still intend on breaking every Trek canon possible.
........If I have failed, then I have failed while daring greatly, henceforth my place shall never be found amoung those timid souls who know not the thrill of victory or bitter defeat....

Welcome aboard.

I've been popping my head in from time to time, but not had the audacity to post... until now.

Some of you may remember me as Tyburn... some others may remember I had an argument with my girlfriend who hijacked my account on here and effectively shut it down (she changed my password to a random jumble she didn't try to remember), so I started this alternate name.

Well, since then a lot has happened... and by a lot I mean probably a whole damn novel's worth. In 2009 I was laid off from my agency post in Hospital Sterile Services. A week later I passed my driving test. A couple of months after that I got into a new job which lasted me through my first crash (go ahead and laugh; I hit a parked car - it was yellow and I had the sun in my eyes) and on April 1st 2010, I finally tied the knot. In 2011 I walked out on said job after repeated attempts by management to screw over the workforce and straight into the job I have now - Hospital Sterile Services Technician. Last year, I went night-shift: Full time. I am now of the Night Watch, last line of defence against Fast-Tracked sets and instruments, one of the Elite.

Since 2010 I have been working on my Magnum Opus - something I believe I mentioned briefly while I was last active. Space Captain Flight, a parody of Star Trek as if it had been written by Captain W.E. Johns (the guy behind Biggles). It has since then taken on a life of it's own, turning from a fairly straight-laced parody into something which encompasses Star Trek, Star Wars, old British WWII movies, Doctor Who, Attack The Block, Battlestar Galactica and too many other things to mention. If you chaps don't mind I might like to use you as a sounding board on occasion, throw a few ideas past you to see if it works.

I'm on Twitter, under the name @Tyburn_Cross if anyone wants to pop by or even just sling abuse in my general direction. You'll recognise me, I'm the one that looks like an owl made out of coffee beans.

What I'm trying to say here is that I'm struggling a little with the writing thing and I think a little collaboration/feedback from some avid Treknophiles might help, and I'll do my bit to help in return. This place had often been a source of amusement/awe-inspiring art in the past and I'd like to see things get back on their feet.

TL;DR? Tyburn's back baby.

(P.S. I've been seeing some really good work on the art forums. I'm hoping some of you guys are doing that sort of thing professionally. If not, then please start doing so.)

Sounds 'bout right.

The first project I will be undertaking as soon as I can get back to the design board is the redesign of the Trek Casino/Adult Entertainment Complex. For those who are not familiar with this....a while back SCN held a CMP ( Design competition ) that focused on Interior design of a starship or Fixed Spaceborn installation. You could choose a room or the whole ship. I decided just to " bust Trek canon thouroughly" by designing a casino/adult playroom/whorehouse. Because of the shher lunacy of the design....it won the CMP. It was accepted into the JOAT...but needed some refinement. Finally, I can get back to that.

I still don't see how the Casino/Adult Entertainment ship "busts Trek Canon"...

It's not like gambling is illegal or anything in the Trek 'Verse.  And considering how much action Kirk got I doubt Starfleet is run by Puritans so I don't see them really having a problem with adult entertainment (unless you're on duty or it something illegal of course).
